Almost every regulatory approval, whether it is FCC, ISED or CE Mark, comes down to the same two questions.

We have worked with TCBs for FCC and ISED and with Notified Bodies for Europe, so the report we hand you is one your certification body will actually accept.
Is your product too loud?
Measures the electromagnetic energy your product radiates through the air and conducts back onto the mains. Limits exist so your device does not interfere with everything around it. This is the half most people mean when they say “EMI testing.”
Can your product take a hit?
Injects real-world disturbances — static discharge, fast transients, surges, RF fields — and checks that your product keeps working, or fails safely and recovers. This is the half that catches design weaknesses late if you skip pre-compliance.

Pre-compliance is cheaper than a re-spin
The single most expensive moment in an EMC project is discovering a failure after the PCB is locked, the tooling is cut and the launch date is public.

EMC testing FAQ
What is EMC testing?
EMC testing verifies two things: that your product does not emit more electromagnetic energy than the limit allows (emissions), and that it keeps working when energy from the outside world hits it (immunity). Emissions protect everything else from your product. Immunity protects your product from everything else. Most regulatory approvals require both.
What is the difference between EMC and EMI testing?
EMI is the interference itself — the unwanted energy a product radiates or conducts. EMC is the broader discipline of making a product electromagnetically compatible with its environment, covering both what it emits and what it can tolerate. In day-to-day use, “EMI testing” usually means the emissions half of an EMC campaign.
What is the difference between pre-compliance and full compliance testing?
Pre-compliance is diagnostic: run early, find the problem while the board can still change, no grant involved. Full compliance is run to the complete standard in an accredited lab and produces the report used for FCC, ISED or CE Mark approval. Most delayed projects skipped the first one.
How long does EMC testing take?
A typical single-product campaign runs from a few days to about two weeks of lab time, depending on how many standards apply, how many operating modes must be covered, and whether the product passes first time. Failures are the main variable — which is the argument for pre-compliance.
How much does EMC testing cost?
It depends on the standards that apply, the number of operating modes and the amount of chamber time your product needs. Send us the product description, block diagram and target markets and we will scope the test plan and return a fixed project quote.
My product failed radiated emissions. What happens next?
Our engineers troubleshoot on the spot. Common causes are cable routing and grounding, shielding gaps, missing or wrong filtering, and clock or switching harmonics. We find the source, try mitigations in the chamber, and re-scan the same day where possible.
Do I need to be in Arizona to use your lab?
No. We are in Tempe and serve clients across the United States. Many customers ship units in and join sessions remotely; Phoenix-area customers often attend in person, which helps most on debug days.
